About Us
If you’ve ever experienced the great impact of someone who believed in, cared about and inspired you, then you have a real sense of what the Foundation for Orange County Public Schools is all about.
- We believe in children and the endless things they can do.
- We inspire.
- We help students believe in themselves.
- We bring hope and possibilities.
- We enhance learning.
We do this each and every day through mentoring, critical support and creative educational programs. And we do it to build up our future generation and to ensure the continued success and strength of our community.
At the core, we manage dozens of unique programs that are making a monumental impact in the classroom. We bring reading and educational mentors to students. We generate and award funds to teachers for innovative classroom learning. We help teachers secure books, lab equipment and other resources to motivate learning. We provide more than $1 million annually in resources and grants to schools to help create a brighter future for our children. And we get the community involved in the shared responsibility of ensuring a quality education for every child.
From the Beginning...
The Foundation for Orange County Public Schools, Inc. was established in 1987 to bring together community resources to ensure a quality public education for every student and to enhance learning-enriched opportunities and experiences for every child. Knowing that our public schools are so important to our economy, we understand that there needs to be a place for the community to come together to meet the diverse needs of our children and to creatively enhance their learning. We also understand that schools and teachers cannot do it alone. So, with a focus on community involvement, the Foundation works to ensure that our students become successful and engaged residents and workers of the future and that our public schools remain a strong asset to our economy. The Foundation, which serves the 11th largest public school system in the nation, is an exempt organization under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, and supports more than 174,000 students and 13,000 teachers in 177 schools in the county.
