ORLANDO, Fla. (June 21, 2010) - The Foundation for Orange County Public Schools, Inc. elected its 2010-2011 officers and 2 new members to its board of directors. This election was announced at the Foundation's 2010 Annual Meeting Celebration held at the Orlando Science Center. Officers' terms run July 1, 2010 through June 30, 2011.

Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children has agreed to fund a new mini-grant program for Orange County Public School teachers through the Foundation for Orange County Public Schools.

In August, Count Me In! released its report on community perceptions on the quality of teaching in Orange County Public Schools. The input from this report was gathered from 16 community conversations with parents, students, principals, teachers and other interested community members between February and May of 2009.

The Foundation for Orange County Public Schools, Inc., which manages a host of grant programs for teachers in the district, has distributed the funds to 334 teachers to provide for everything from supplies and equipment for classroom learning enhancement, to collaborative teacher classroom initiatives, to specific equipment and materials focused on math and science enrichment.
 

 The Foundation for Orange County Public Schools needs volunteers to help second grade students. A permanent program of the Foundation since 2001, Read2Succeed provides one-on-one mentoring to second graders who are reading below grade level.
