Read2Succeed Program

This year, the Read2Succeed program is new and improved. We have revamped the program due to feedback from our mentors and teachers. The program offers students and mentors a little more structure than in previous years. We have changed our focus to concentrate on developing reading fluency in second graders and we are asking our mentors to work with student pairs.

Read2Succeed utilizes a research-based program, The Six-Minute Solution, which quickly builds fluency through interactive, peer-to-peer repeated readings of high-interest, targeted readability passages. This program includes effective instructional procedures that guide students to improved literacy in just six minutes a day with one visit a week from their mentor and working with their partners the other four days of the week.

Our goal is to match volunteer mentors, one day per week for 30-45 minutes, with second grade student pairs who need assistance in this area. The program assists classroom instruction and can be used as a reading intervention.

The Foundation provides all the necessary materials for the program. Each student will receive a folder with their graphs, program reminders, a page protector, a dry erase marker and mentor/teacher communication sheets. Each student pair will receive a binder with their reading selections and an easy to use timer
