Read2Succeed Information and Training

Read2Succeed focuses on improving reading fluency for second graders who are mid to mid-low level readers. This program is available to all Orange County public elementary schools -- not just Title I schools. Students and mentors use a research-based program called "The Six-Minute Solution."

Additional Reading Resources

There is usually some extra time at the end of a mentoring session. Our mentors are encouraged to read a book with their students or to interact with the students through reading games and activities. This is an excellent resource for information regarding the Dolch word list. Knowledge of these frequently used words is a crucial part the ability to read fluently.

This site has fun and engaging activities for children of all ages. There is even a page of printable worksheets and games just for second graders.

This site is full of information about reading and strategies for helping struggling readers. It also has book lists sorted by interest which can be very helpful in sparking interest in reading.
