HOPE Walk for Health - 2nd Annual

The HOPE Walk for Health will honor the legacy of pediatric nurse practitioner Tori Sheahan–a consummate caretaker and champion for the health of local youth.  The Walk focuses on promoting a healthy mind and body, by walking, for conflict resolution, problem solving and exercise. There will be brief stops-talking points along the walking route.

Proceeds from the HOPE Walk for Health will be used to continue to provide:

#1 Medical supplies and health education resources to school-based health centers in the Winter Park Consortium of Schools (includes Winter Park High and all its elementary and middle feeder schools) through the Tori Sheahan Memorial Fund.

#2 Support for Winter Park Consortium of Schools Be the Change programs--including a yearly Challenge Day and other Social Emotional Learning (SEL) programs--that emphasize tools for students to communicate, adapt and thrive in an increasingly complicated world.

#3 Support for American Cancer Society Hope Lodges. Lodges offer cancer patients and their caregivers a free place to stay when undergoing treatment at medical centers away from their home. Hope Lodges provide a nurturing environment and offer a variety of practical and educational resources.

About Tori Sheahan
As the School Nursing Initiative Coordinator for Winter Park Health Foundation, Ms. Sheahan helped supervise, mentor and support school nurses in the Winter Park Consortium of Schools and staffed the Health Center at Glenridge Middle School for many years. She went to any length required to make sure her patients got the care, medicine, education and social services they needed. She was married with two children. She left a wonderful legacy of kindness and compassion.
