Red Fin Robotics

Team #8841, Red Fins Robotics is a FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) team representing Edgewater High School in Orlando, Florida. We are a very diverse team of 25 members from many different backgrounds, ethnicities, and circumstances.  We are proud to be a totally inclusive team, that takes all public school students who are dedicated to working with us and not charging any dues to students.  Founded during the 2021 RAPID REACT game season; we decided we were going to put our full effort into building the best robot we could.  As a rookie team we left our mark by winning all 3 available rookie awards across our previous two competitions! This is almost unheard of and shows the promise that the team has in the future.

Our first season was an incredible experience, each of us getting to learn about the electrical, mechanical, and computer science fields in ways that wouldn’t be possible in regular high school classes. Nothing compares to putting together a robot with your own hands, seeing it run, and getting to cheer it on as it competes with other teams who share the same passion. None of this is possible without the help of our community, school, mentors and sponsors.

FRC is about more than just robots and competing; it’s also about giving back to the community and camaraderie.  Our team has already done many community outreach events such as making education pamphlets for the caretakers of people with dementia and hosting other teams at our build facility to work with us as well as practice on the field we built at our school.  We want to be a vector for other kids to get involved with engineering and robotics as well as learn the life skills that any sport teaches you about teamwork and determination.

Your contribution to our team will assist us in costs related to transportation, entree fees, hotels, food, and the hosting of local community events. Any amount is appreciated and will help us achieve our dreams!
