Horizon High School Band

 

The Horizon High School Band is a comprehensive band program which includes a focus on individual fundamentals, group performance and musicianship, and a positive, inclusive atmosphere which welcomes students of all abilities, backgrounds, and experience levels. 

Course offerings include concert ensembles, jazz ensembles, percussion classes, and eurhythmics classes which includes our fall color guard and a competitive indoor winter guard program.  All students are a part of the Horizon High School marching band, "The Sound of Horizon," which performs at all varsity football games in the fall, as well as community, state, and national performances throughout the school year.

The Sound of Horizon traveled to Savannah and Atlanta, GA in the 2022-2023 school year for their first national appearance, performing in the 199th Savannah St. Patrick's Day Parade.  In 2023, the Wind Ensemble performed at the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts in the UCF-Orlando Music for All Concert Band Invitational.  Student opportunities continue to grow as the program grows, from 36 our first day together in 2021 to over 140 students enrolled in classes today.

We are fortunate to have outstanding parent, administrative and community support in beautiful Horizon West, and we appreciate your support of The Sound of Horizon.

Contributions to the Fund can be made at any time to Horizon High School Band and will be tax deductible.  The Fund can receive gifts via cash, check (payable to FOCPS) or credit card, in one payment or multiple installments throughout the school year.  Checks should be mailed to Foundation for OCPS, 445 West Amelia Street, Orlando, FL 32801.  In the memo section please list Horizon HS Band.

The Fund will maintain a segregated account at the Foundation for Orange County Public Schools, available only for the Horizon High School Band.  It will be tax deductible as a contribution to a 501c3 organization with transparency and full disclosure.

The “Friends of The Sound of Horizon” is the community sponsorship program for the Horizon High School Band.  Funds from this program are used to help offset costs associated with the program's activities each year.
