Cindy Williams joined the Foundation for Orange County Public Schools in 2010 as the organization’s fourth executive director since it opened in 1987. Prior to joining the Foundation, Cindy was with for the Diocese of Orlando, where she served as the director of institutional advancement for the Office of Catholic Schools. There she worked with 37 schools throughout seven counties to market the schools for enrollment, resources and image.
Her professional background includes work with for-profit and non-profit companies. Most recently, she spent 10 years with Orlando Sentinel overseeing the company’s philanthropic programs. This included working with the McCormick Foundation and managing the Orlando Sentinel Family Fund, raising funds and distributing grants to local non-profit organizations that help meet the needs of children, families and the elderly.
Before joining the Sentinel, Williams spent eight years working in educational, health care and social service environments. She returned to her alma mater as a development director, raising funds for the College of Health and Public Affairs. Before that she created the development department at the Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida and navigated the organization through its first capital campaign. Williams began her career in the non-profit sector working for Hospice of Volusia/Flagler in marketing and development roles.
Williams is currently serving her sixth year as a Read2Succeed mentor and served on the Early Learning Coalition of Orange County Board of Directors for five years. She earned her bachelor’s degree and MBA from the University of Central Florida. She is married with two children.
