Educators

The Foundation for Orange County Public Schools has been working for more than 20 years to support innovative teachers through classroom grants and other programs.

Teacher Grants – Nearly $200,000 is awarded annually to teacher for innovative projects, equipment and supplies in key areas such as math, science, literacy and health education.  During the 2010-2011 school year, 355 teachers received grants that impacted more than 41,000 students in 99 schools.

Read2Succeed – This mentoring program matches volunteers with 2nd graders who are struggling readers. Read2Succeed mentors help build literacy skills while building students’ self-esteem and self-confidence. Approximately 475 mentors worked with 500 students in 55 schools during the 2010-2011 school year.

Teach-In – Each year on a single day in November, thousands of adults go back into the classrooms to share their knowledge and experience with students in every grade. In 2010, 3,689 volunteers where in 152 schools and made approximately 6,400 presentations sharing their knowledge and experiences.

Business Cards – The Foundation partners with C&S Printing to bring OCPS teachers and administrators affordable business cards. Business cards may be ordered at the beginning of each school year.
