About Us

Established in 1987, the Foundation for Orange County Public Schools (FOCPS) serves the 10th largest public school system in the nation and supports more than 200,000 students and 13,000 teachers in 188 schools.

The Foundation’s 2017 18-Month Strategic Plan focuses on six goals, all under the guiding principle to "Invest in Student Achievement":
  • Optimize Donor Experience, Engagement & Investments: Improve ways to thank, retain, and report to donors, and increase giving from individuals.
  • Drive Community Connections & Collaboration: Focus on collaboration and collective impact with corporations, foundations, and other nonprofits, and engage connected audiences such as alumni, parents and employees more deeply.
  • Identify & Address Student Priorities: Identify district and school needs in support of students, and engage the right audiences to provide necessary resources.
  • Enhance Funds Under Management: Grow endowed funds, cultivate and support more school and district funds, and improve resources, training and tools for fund management.
  • Maximize Operational Efficiency & Accountability: Improve data management, staffing, resources and processes.
  • Amplify Our Brand & Our Story: Evaluate our brand and communicate our purpose, and expand our reach and impact.

The Foundation’s 25 member board of directors is committed to public education and brings both breadth and depth in knowledge and skills from the business community and education sector. The board confers transparency, accountability and business acumen to the Foundation, which impacts the education programs and initiatives it seeks to support and gives donors confidence in their investments.
