Our mission in Orange County Public Schools is to lead our students to success with the support and involvement of families and the community. When we work together to achieve this mission, we make OCPS the center for educational excellence!
 
The Superintendent’s Leadership Fund exists to help us meet our goal of having a high-performing and dedicated team to work at all levels to ensure the success of our students. We provide professional development for all levels of district and school-based staff, teachers, administrators and leadership. Your support of this fund will enable us to continue developing pathways for our employees to learn to lead our students to success.

Superintendent Dr. Barbara Jenkins, will host a half-day leadership summit to share her vision for the upcoming school year with over 950 district administrators. This is a prime opportunity to showcase your organization and its services to the school district’s middle and senior managers.  .

Teacher Development

Great Beginnings Session Dates:
Session 1: July 23-24, 2018
Session 2: July 25-26, 2018
 

The goal of Professional Development Services is to develop, empower and retain teachers and leaders so that our students experience excellent teaching and learning every day. Our work is unique in that we create opportunities to develop expertise in beginning teachers while also building capacity in teacher leaders through robust induction and coaching programs of study.

Great Beginnings is the welcome to and introduction of OCPS’ way of work to beginning teachers. This is the first experience for new teachers in continuous professional improvement that will last throughout their careers. Research shows that “new teachers who participate in a comprehensive induction program stay in the profession longer and have greater success in terms of job satisfaction and student achievement” (Harris, 2015). The focus for our beginning teacher professional development is to support beginning teachers in instructional design and lesson planning, the learning environment and instructional delivery and facilitation.

We believe that with comprehensive coach/mentor training plus significant time spent with teachers along with intensive, instructionally-focused support we will have a positive impact on student learning.

 
Donations

A donation of $750 gives you access to speak with hundreds of beginning teachers! You will have a space in an open gallery to set up table displays to be visited by beginning teachers throughout the four days of Great Beginnings using an “Exhibitor Hunt.” Recognition of your donation and logo will be included in every participant manual. IN ADDITION, this year you have the opportunity to continue engaging with participants even after the event is over. Your logo will be included in follow up emails to re-cap both Great Beginnings AND the New Teacher Extravaganza, our private event reserved for new teachers, mentors, and administrators.
