We have lost a valued member of the OCPS Transportation team, Papo Diaz, to a sudden and unexpected illness. Papo was admitted to the hospital initially for cardiac issues after not feeling well for a few days. His health deteriorated quickly, sending him to the ICU. Sadly, he experienced multisystem failure; despite being placed on life support, he lost the battle.

 

Papo Diaz drove a school bus since 2006.  He served many schools and areas throughout the district, and was beloved by his teammates, schools and students.  His willingness to help anywhere and anytime endeared him to everyone he met.

His wife, Gildren “Gigi” Santana, also a bus driver, has been away from work and by his side throughout his illness. The family needs help with living expenses for Gigi and funeral costs for Papo.
